two much fun
What's better than one wallaby? Two, of course.
I finally finished the wallabies for my niece and nephew. I hope they will fit. I am not overly optimistic as I have a track records of sending knits that are too small. I measure Little Sir 40 times or more when I am making him something, I think there is some weird psychological thing happening when I make knits for kids or other people I can not measure. It might also be a self-fulfilling prophecy thing too.
There has been a great deal said about the Wallaby already so I won't wax poetic at this point. It is a quick and pretty easy sweater to knit, and it's cute. I mean come on. You put a pouch on anything and it's cute, right?
Details on the Wallabies are in the 2007 Gallery.
And though it's Friday and Piehole Wednesday happens on, well, Wednesday, there was pie.
A sick child, a snowstorm and the onset of Christmas gift-giving may be the story of my life; but, when there is a new episode of Pushing Daisies, there must be pie. The pie is Irresistible Pecan Pie (with my own Pate Brisee crust from Joy of Cooking though). I don't think I like pecan pie, so it's difficult to assess this one. It was sweet and gooey, so that is good, right? As dedicated as I am, this may be the last pie for 2007; Christmas, it's just around the corner.
And what is better than one pecan dessert? Well, two of course!
I had so many pecans leftover, something needed to be done with them, so I modified a recipe (calling for hazelnuts) from one of my cookbooks. Pecan shortbread bars with a layer of chocolate. Perfection itself, friends.
Have a good crafty weekend, everyone. The forecast is predicting a nor'easter for these parts, so that means hunkering down with hot chocolate and some knits and my sewing machine. What about you?

my plans too!!! tea, knitting, football and cuddling with the pups! (and maybe a snowshoe depending on how cold it is!)
I usually send knits that are too big (fear of too small and I figure they will grow into them) so if we got together, they'd be just right!)
pecan pie is just too sweet for me - I like pecans, and I like pie, just not together. The shortbread sounds amazing. that is something i would like!

Adorable sweaters. I'm sure they'll love wearing them together to "match". Enjoy your snow. I hope Lil Sir is feeling better soon--mine have been sick almost non-stop this season. It's tiring for all of us.

Yum. Pecan Pie. I love it. Yours looks delicious.
Can you believe I haven't knit a Wallaby? One of these days...

Aaaah, so that's what the blocks of chocolate over at FlickR were about... YUM!

And the wallabies came two by two...so cute! They are quite wonderful, aren't they?
Pushing Daisies...I was so excited that it was new this week. Ned was just so tortured. I wanted to give him a big hug.

I'm saving the new Pushing Daisies on my DVR for a rainy day. I keep expecting them to run out of new episodes. Darn writer's strike!
Those pecan desserts look so decadent. Mmm.
I have yet to knit a Wallaby. They're so adorable though, I might just have to do one for a friend's child one of these days.

The Wallabies look so soft! Hunkering down with hot chocolate and your knitting sounds like the perfect way to ride out the winter storm. I think I'll be doing the same (and maybe bake a batch of Christmas cookies too).

I wish I could hunker down for the nor'easter. We've got too many things going on with the kids. We'll be in NYC and then trying to get home. Ah, well, at least DH is driving and I can knit in the car.
The Wallabies are cute.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Nova,
What scrumptious pies you make! And what adorable sweaters. I hope Little Mr. Sir is not seriously ill and that he gets better quickly. Try to stay warm. We have weather similar to your weather today.

I love that you have the sweaters' "hands" in their pockets. They are both so cute. I hope they fit your niece and nephew and that you get great photos of them modeling them!
I also hope you survived the nor'easter!
