Little Sir celebrated 6 months of life this weekend; or, rather, we celebrated 6 months of life for Little Sir, he was somewhat oblivious.
He was, however, more into rolling around which had me paying more attention to him and less to my knitting during his awake hours. I have been working on the Swallowtail Shawl. Swallowtail and I have reached an understanding. I will use lifelines, and she will grow. Again, because this is my first real lace project I am learning as I go...lifelines, who knew? There are some knitters who don't use them and, apparently, laugh at those who do. Let the laughing commence, because I am one of those knitters that needs a lifeline or thirty, as it were.
After starting over 6 times and ripping out many more times than I can count, it occured to me that there had to be a better way...yes, lifelines. I am now halfway through the first chart. Things are going more smoothly now... I am no longer throwing Swallowtail across various rooms in my house (even at half, she can fly!). Swallowtail and I, we are friends again.
I would have worked on my sweater for Special K this weekend...if the yarn had arrived in the mail. I am waiting for a pretty sizeable order of yarn from Knit Picks. I had some reservations about using Knit Picks yarn for the sweater; but I figured Elizabeth Zimmermann would definately approve...she seemed so sensible, and Knit Picks--if nothing else--is a sensible choice for yarn...we will see if I still feel that way when the yarn gets here and I can assess the situation.
Happy 6 months to little Sir!

HI! You're on my Rhinebeck Bingo card and I'm just now getting to read your blog (I'm a little behind). Your Little Sir is 5 days younger than my little demon twins! He's adorable! But where are the pics of you? How will I find you at Rhinebeck?? :)
