Little Sir and I were given clean bills of health. We were suffering, in tandem, the royal trifecta of an ear infection, sinus infection and a bronchial infection...and it's not even winter yet. While sick we stayed indoors, I knit a ton and Little Sir rolled around and that's about it...hey, he is only 5 months old.
I finished Little Sir's sweater, it is huge. He should be able to fit into it by Christmas time. The smaller sweater is almost done (it might be done tomorrow, actually). Little Sir will probably be able to fit it so maybe I will have him model it. So here it is, my first finished sweater...honestly and truly, I am quite proud:
Little Sir's Raglan Sweater
Pattern: Taken from Erika Knight's Knitting for Two
Yarn: TLC Cotton Plus, MC Spruce, CC Mint
Size: 9-12 months
Needles: Bates Circular US 9/5.5 mm, Brittany Birch US 9/5.5 mm
Modifications: I knit it in the round. After reading posts of people who made it wondering why they didn't knit it in the round, I figured it would be silly of me to knit it and then post the same regret. It made the knitting go faster. Also, less seaming.
I think this is a good pattern for beginners to learn basic sweater construction. While knitting it up, I learned some things about my knitting--I knit a wee bit tighter on circulars, so much so that for the smaller sweater I ended up switching to a smaller needle size when switching to straight spn's. Seemed to fix the tension issues. I also realized that seaming is tiresome, I am not a fan...but needs must.
Unrelated to the sweater, a friend of mine gave birth to a baby last Friday. I made some baby booties for the wee one since she is a knitter as well and I figured she would appreciate anything I knit up for her (particularly if made with Koigu), so I made these cuties inspired by Jess:
I called to see if she needed anything today and she asked me to bring her some knitting needles...love it.
