They are calling it a "snow day," but it's really a "sleet day." There isn't much snow on the ground in southern Connecticut but we are cornering the market with sleet and ice. I am not complaining, mind you. I am home, inside and very warm; and, pretty soon I will be knitting and watching Netflix movies that I have had for months. So yes, I will take a snow day any way I can get it!
I plan on knitting more of Arwen today, but really I just want to work on the Anemoi mittens. I love the pattern, I love the yarn and with every row I feel so accomplished. Truly. Check out the ribbing, it makes me so happy!
And because it's Valentine's Day and I was feeling so inspired, I decided that I would make some cookies. Martha's recipe, but if you make them either subtract 1/4 cup of confectioner's sugar or add 1/4 cup of butter (well, really you can do what you want, but if you want to be able to roll the dough you might want to add or subtract accordingly--and Martha says not to re-roll but that is just being wasteful--I re-rolled the leftover dough and they look fine).
I was going to take them to work, but since I am home, Special K got to take them to share with his peeps. But really, I wish I could give every one of you a cookie!
Happy Valentine's Day!
that ribbing is sublime! how absolutely wonderful!
and the cookies look great...hope you kept a few for movie watching :o)

My Valentines Day has been tragically devoid of baked goods thus far, and now I have to be taunted by photos on blogs. Those cookies look great. It's so unfair.
The woman I knit with on the bus made those mittens, and I was in love with the ribbing. It is SUCH a cool pattern.

I've been watching horizontal sleet out my office window all day. I hear my company *never* closes for weather. So sad, because it's beyond gross out there. I'm jealous of all these snow days people are getting! Those cookise look delish!

Those cookies look delish! Hmmmm...I sent all my toffee away; maybe I need some treats for myself? (The mittens look pretty yummy too!)

Both the mitten cuff and the cookies look fantastic! I have loved blue/white-cream combos since I was a kid (I was given my mom's and aunt's old china doll dishes in Blue Willow). I don't need mittens or a fair isle hat here in Davis, CA, but there has to be something I could knit with stranded blue and white for a first stranded knitting project. do you have any ideas?

Happy Valentine's Day! The anemois look great so far. Is the cuff at all tight on you? I had to do them 6 times before I got them to not be so tight.
The cookies look delicious!

Happy Valentine's Day! A sleet day! It is snowing again in CO, but nothing like the East Coast. The mittens and the cookies look great. Wish I had a few to take to class tonight!

The mittens look wonderful! What yarn are you using? It looks lovely.
The cookies are beautiful. They look like they'd be perfect with a nice cup of tea. I was too lazy to make cookies today but I whipped up a batch of cupcakes for my boys after I saw your cookies.
Happy Valentine's Day!

And YUM those cookies look like a great knitting snack! Knit a few rows, take a cookie break, knit a few rows, take a cookie break...

I'd love another snow day over here. In the meantime, I'm loving the start of you Anemois...such a nice sheen to them.

I don't know which is more beautiful, the mitten or the cookies. I do know which would taste better, though.
