Estonian Triangular Shawl to Knit
Pattern: by Nancy Bush, printed in the July/August 2008 issue of Piecework Magazine as a sneak peek to the Knitted Lace of Estonia book coming out in November 2008.
Yarn: Baruffa Cashwool, Off-white
Needles: US 4/3.5mm
Finished size: 53" wide (wingspan), 21" long (from center)
The shawl is small, but it's pretty. A very feminine shawl, and a fun pattern. I knit the shawl in 2 weeks just working on a few rows every night for a few hours. There is, apparently, much to be said for monogamous knitting.
This was knit as a gift for someone else. If I were knitting this for myself, I think I would have used a fingering weight yarn and gone up two or three needle sizes to give the shawl more weight; but I tend to like my shawls heavier.
The lace edge border is sewn on to the center panel when all is said and done. I am not a fan of sewing on borders. I had some problems, but they worked themselves out.
